{"id":10182,"date":"2022-07-08T16:40:47","date_gmt":"2022-07-08T16:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/old.hafnarborg.is\/?post_type=event&#038;p=10182"},"modified":"2022-07-08T16:44:29","modified_gmt":"2022-07-08T16:44:29","slug":"in-the-depths-of-your-own-awareness-curatorial-talk","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/old.hafnarborg.is\/en\/event\/in-the-depths-of-your-own-awareness-curatorial-talk\/","title":{"rendered":"In the Depths of Your Own Awareness \u2013 Curatorial Talk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sunday August 28th at 2 p.m.<\/strong>, <strong>Ald\u00eds Arnard\u00f3ttir<\/strong>, Director of Hafnarborg, will welcome guests for a curatorial talk of retrospective <em>In the Depths of Your Own Awareness<\/em>, spanning the career of artist Gunnar \u00d6rn Gunnarsson, but that day also marks the end of the exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>During his career of almost four decades, Gunnar \u00d6rn went through a number of transformations and changed his style a few times, as can be clearly seen at the exhibition. Gunnar \u00d6rn was an extremely prolific artist and left a great many artworks: drawings, monotypes, paintings, sculptures and watercolours, as well as works created with mixed technique.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gunnar \u00d6rn Gunnarsson<\/strong>\u00a0(1946-2008) took cello lessons in Copenhagen in 1963-64, as well as attending Svend Nielsen\u2019s drawing school in Denmark, though he was otherwise a self-taught artist. Gunnar \u00d6rn was an active presence in the Icelandic art scene, exhibiting regularly both here and abroad, for example in Denmark, Tokyo, Budapest and in Achim Moeller\u2019s gallery, Moeller Fine Art, New York. Notably, Gunnar \u00d6rn was Iceland\u2019s representative at the Venice Bienniale in 1988.
