{"id":11099,"date":"2023-04-05T16:06:15","date_gmt":"2023-04-05T16:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/old.hafnarborg.is\/?post_type=event&#038;p=11099"},"modified":"2023-11-17T13:26:54","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T13:26:54","slug":"in-my-language-uncanny-virtuality-guided-tour-in-arabic","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/old.hafnarborg.is\/en\/event\/in-my-language-uncanny-virtuality-guided-tour-in-arabic\/","title":{"rendered":"In My Language: Uncanny Virtuality \u2013 Guided Tour in Arabic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Saturday April 15th at 3 p.m.<\/strong>, artist <strong>Yara Zein<\/strong> will take guests on a <strong>guided tour in Arabic<\/strong> of the exhibition <em>Uncanny Virtuality<\/em>, focusing on digital art, photography, the moving image, realism, and hyperreality.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition presents works by six artists, working both in Iceland and internationally, exploring themes of reality and virtuality. In these works, they comment on the disconnection, anxiety and irony that is unique to our current generation within a new-media world. Through a digital expression, they then find satire in many of the stresses of the 21st century.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yara Zein<\/strong> (b. 1995) is an Iceland-based Lebanese artist with a background in architecture, design and art. Zein holds a BA in visual arts from the Acad\u00e9mie Libanaise des Beaux Arts in Beirut and an MFA in fine arts from Nottingham Trent University, England.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>In My Language<\/em><\/strong><em> is an event programme focused on making Hafnarborg more accessible to people of different backgrounds by welcoming guests to the museum in various languages. The event is a collaboration between Hafnarborg and the aid organisation Get Together that provides support for asylum seekers and refugees in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.
