In the exhibition, El\u00edsabet takes a close look at the act of drawing and explores the countless possibilities of the line itself. Please note that the talk will be in Icelandic.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing involves our first visual interpretation of our surroundings, long before we learn to write, and so it functions as a material projection of the imagination, of our thoughts. There are not many mediums that are able to capture the immediacy of the artist\u2019s vision as drawing can \u2013 forming a direct link with our line of thought and simultaneously illustrating the relationship between a human being and instrument. Ethen observes time and feeling, as well as the experience of drawing, bringing to mind the words of artist Richard Serra: \u201cThere is no way to\u00a0make a drawing\u2013\u00a0there is only drawing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>El\u00edsabet Brynhildard\u00f3ttir (b. 1983) works in a variety of mediums, most notably drawings and sculptures. Through classical materials she explores our relationship to the artwork and the artistic process whilst contemplating ideas of impermanence, time and material hierarchy. Alongside her artistic practice she is an active member of the artist-run space Kling &amp; Bang. Her works have been shown in i8 Gallery, the Akureyri Art Museum, Kling &amp; Bang, Skaftfell Center for Visual Arts and The Living Art Museum, amongst other places.
