{"id":7263,"date":"2019-11-05T16:10:26","date_gmt":"2019-11-05T16:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hafnarborg.avistaserver.com\/?post_type=event&#038;p=7263"},"modified":"2019-11-05T16:13:27","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T16:13:27","slug":"gudjon-samuelsson-architect-the-man-and-the-music","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/old.hafnarborg.is\/en\/event\/gudjon-samuelsson-architect-the-man-and-the-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n Sam\u00faelsson Architect \u2013 Man and Music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sunday November 10th at 5:15 p.m.<\/strong>, there will be a special programme at Hafnarborg, in connection with the exhibition <em>Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n Sam\u00faelsson Architect<\/em>, which is now open, on the occasion of the centennial of Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n\u2018s graduation, with a degree in architecture, in 1919 and his following appointment as State Architect in 1920. The programme will be led by <strong>Gu\u00f0ni T\u00f3masson<\/strong>, broadcaster, with the aim of shedding light on Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n, the man himself, and his musical interests. Samples of music will be played and <strong>Anton\u00eda Hevesi<\/strong>, pianist, will perform selected songs from Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n\u2018s notebooks. Gu\u00f0ni will also talk with <strong>P\u00e9tur H. \u00c1rmannsson<\/strong>, architect and one of the exhibition\u2018s curators.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition focuses on Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n\u2018s vision, stylistic progression and probable influences. Drawings, photographs and models of the architect\u2018s buildings are on exhibition, as well as proposals that were never realised and things from Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n\u2018s personal property. The curators of the exhibition are \u00c1g\u00fasta Krist\u00f3fersd\u00f3ttir, Director of Hafnarborg, and P\u00e9tur H. \u00c1rmannsson, architect, who has done extensive research on the architecture of Gu\u00f0j\u00f3n Sam\u00faelsson. The exhibition is a collaboration with the National Museum of Iceland and the National Archives of Iceland, both of which were very generous in granting access to their collections.
