For DesignMarch<\/strong>, which takes place from June 24th\u201328th at this time, a special programme will be presented at Hafnarborg, in connection with the exhibition material:wood<\/em>, which opened at the museum earlier this summer. At Hafnarborg\u2018s exhibition this year, the focus is specifically on wood as a material. The idea behind the exhibition was to bring together designers and artists of different backgrounds and varied perspectives, all of whom still work or wrestle with this magnificent material, in one form or another, as they seek to realize their ideas. In addition, there is an examination of the divide between different art forms that has become increasingly obscure in recent years, perhaps even becoming obsolete.<\/p>\n

Midday Tour with the Curator
\nJune 24th\u201328th at 12 p.m.<\/strong>
\nOn weekdays, there will be a short guided tour of the exhibition material:wood<\/em> at midday, during the course of DesignMarch. Unnur Mj\u00f6ll S. Leifsd\u00f3ttir, curator, will welcome guests and tell them about the exhibition, select works and more. The tour will begin promptly at 12 p.m. and last for approximately half an hour.<\/p>\n

Evening Opening
\nJune 25th from 5\u20139 p.m.<\/strong>
\nThe museum will be open in the evening on Thursday June 25th, from 5\u20139 p.m., giving guests the opportunity to see the exhibition outside regular opening hours. There will also be a special price on select light-coloured drinks for guests of the museum at the bar of Krydd Restaurant, on the ground floor of Hafnarborg.<\/p>\n

Exhibition Talk
\nJune 27th at 2 p.m.<\/strong>
\nDuring the weekend, we will host a couple of talks between participants in the exhibition, where guests can gain insight into the process of design and creation. At the first talk, on Saturday June 27th, product designer Bj\u00f6rn Steinar Blumenstein will meet artist Unnd\u00f3r Egill J\u00f3nsson. The similarities or dissimilarities in the approach of designers and artists, when dealing with this material:wood<\/em>, will be among topics for discussion.<\/p>\n

Exhibition Talk
\nJune 28th at 2 p.m.
\n<\/strong>At the weekend\u2019s second exhibition talk, on Sunday June 28th, the design team Agustav, a collaboration between \u00c1g\u00fasta Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir and Gustav J\u00f3hannsson, will meet artist Sindri Leifsson. The discussion will be on the various perspectives and similar challenges facing those who work with this material:wood<\/em>.<\/p>\n
