The judges\u2018 statement about the nomination says the following: \u201eAn exiting and original exhibition with a captivating opening concert. Working with the interplay of music and space, Jennifer Torrence\u2018s performance of <em>Nine Bells<\/em> by Tom Johnson was particularly successful.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition celebrated the fifth anniversary of the concert series of the same name, which is dedicated to contemporary music and has been a part of the Hafnarborg programme since 2013. At the opening of the exhibition, <strong>Jennifer Torrence<\/strong> performed <em>Nine Bells<\/em>, as mentioned in the judges\u2018 statement, but the performance of the same work at the concert series in autumn 2016 (then by Frank Aarnink) was the spark that would later lead to the exhibition, where music and visual arts encountered each other in the timeless space of the museum.<\/p>\n<p>The artists participating in the exhibition were <strong>\u00c1sta \u00d3lafsd\u00f3ttir<\/strong>, <strong>Steina<\/strong>, <strong>Steinunn Eldflaug Har\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir<\/strong>, <strong>Logi Le\u00f3 Gunnarsson<\/strong>, <strong>J\u00f3n Gunnar \u00c1rnason<\/strong>, <strong>James Saunders<\/strong>, <strong>Bergr\u00fan Sn\u00e6bj\u00f6rnsd\u00f3ttir<\/strong>, <strong>Magn\u00fas P\u00e1lsson<\/strong>, <strong>Tom Johnson<\/strong>, <strong>Curver Thoroddsen<\/strong> and <strong>Einar Torfi Einarsson<\/strong>. The curator was <strong>\u00der\u00e1inn Hj\u00e1lmarsson<\/strong>, composer and artistic director of the concert series.<\/p>\n<p>In connection with the exhibition, there was also an extensive programme of concerts, musical events and performances, featuring local and foreign artists and musicians, such as <strong>Haraldur J\u00f3nsson<\/strong>, <strong>\u00c1sta Fanney Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir<\/strong>, <strong>Marko Ciciliani<\/strong>, <strong>Barbara L\u00fcneburg<\/strong>, <strong>Skerpla<\/strong>, <strong>Berglind M. T\u00f3masd\u00f3ttir<\/strong> and more.
